Psssst...

I have something fun planned...
I am a sucker for decorative pencils....they are cute, lightweight and easy to slip into an envelope....

. . . so I thought it might be neat to randomly select 5 orders that are placed within the first 24 hours of our July release to recieve one of my decorative pencils.  (through 12:01 AM pacific time on July 2nd)

Winning a pencil would be super great (grin) but I think that it would be even better if it meant that you also win a stamp set of your choice...wooohoooo

sound like fun?

Since PS Club member orders have already been mailed...I will slip a pencil into 5 envelopes for the August release...and those 5 random people will win a stamp set of their choice.  We want to make this as fair to everyone as possible.

If you are a lucky winner, simply e-mail your stamp set choice to me and I will mail it out asap.  info@papersmoochesstamps.com

We truly appreciate you :)

another FUN blog hop!

I am playing along with fellow "young crafters" today...we are sharing a new project using one of our favorite things.  This is where you will find all of the deets.

You should be arriving here from Ruby's blog

I am sure that I am not as young as many of these talented girls along the hopping path since I just turned 40, but I feel young!  I like creating fresh and fun cards, so maybe that's what keeps me feeling youthful.  I love coloring and cutting like I did when I was a kid.  I play with stamps and paper everyday, it doesn't get much better than that, for me :)

One of my favorite "things" is my dog.  Please meet Moxy...

Please meet my card:

The stamps used on this card are releasing TODAY.  They are from the "Santa Paws" and "Surf and Turf" stamp sets.  The dachshund is stamped onto patterned paper and cut out.  Black Zva Creative crystals added just the right touch to the black scalloped border.

You know the drill...this is where I tell you to hop next:

Please hop on over to: Jen Rzasa

Randomly selected hoppers will be chosen to win a prize.  Paper Smooches is one of the sponsors of this hop.  You can win a stamp set of your choice from us among other companies.  (More details at the main blog, linked above and below)

This super fun blog hop begins today at noon, central time.  The hop runs through Monday, July 4th at 11:59PM CST.  Winners will be announced on Wednesday, July 6th at noon CST.  Check in at the main web site: Young Crafter's Unite

Thank you so much for stopping by :)
Kim

PS - I had planned to start our challenge today (the first Friday of the month) but I don't want to interrupt the blog hop since it's a whole lot of more info..  I will start the challenge on Monday...please check back for the details.  This is going to be FUN!!

Hey friends!

Hope you are all enjoying some sunshine :)

I about fell off my chair when I saw Teri's card
How appropriate for the upcoming July 4th holiday!
She colored the top of the popsicles with red and the bottom with blue.  The mouths are included on the stamp set.  These silly guys are from the "Sugar Rush" stamp set.

I don't want you to forget about our shaped card templates.  They are so easy and fun to use.  You can cut the templates with a Silhouette machine.  Here are the instructions:
1. File  > Open. Open Jpg image.
2. Scale down image to fit into cutting area.
3. On the toolbar, locate the "Open the Trace Window" button. It's the 5th button to the right that has a blue butterfly-ish image in the center. Click the icon.
4. On the left side panel, click "Select Trace Area". Proceed to select the bounding area with your mouse.
5. Select one of the options in "Apply trace method" on the left side panel.
6. To ungroup the image if there are multiple images, left click and select "Release Compound Path"

Have a fabulous day - hope to see you tomorrow for our design team blog hop :)

we're still

surfing and turfing ;)

A seagull is one of 2 land animals on this set - the other one is a PELICAN, eeeek!

As I thought of fun ocean/sea sentiments, I thought of the word "swell" that describes waves and a cool person...yup, it fit the set perfectly :)

Laurie created this very playful card by combining many textures and dimensions., It's just plain fun to look at!  The rose is unexpected but so wonderful!!

Check out Heather's very pretty card - I am always so impressed at how perfectly Heather can fussy cut around images.  I love that it;s not a typical ocean theme card :)

Please join us tomorrow for another peek at the July release.  Thursday is our blog hop...and you will have a chance to win one of these new sets!

Hello!!

Pep Rally Week continues - woohooo

Please meet:  SANTA PAWS

I already mentioned that there is a dachshund in this set, so that means there are other "paws" included.  And yup, there is a SANTA!  A realllly quirky one I admit.  I can't wait until you can see him (grin).

Kryssi's card is dreamy with that glitter snow strip.  Notice how she cut out the eyes and repositioned them to make the whole scene even more adorable hehe, I love it!

And...Heidi used the sentiment that goes with this silly reindeer.  She created a dollar bill from card stock.  The dollar sign is included in the set as well.  What a great money holder idea!!

CLE - VER!!!

Thanks for joining us today - Pep Rally week continues tomorrow.  Our blog hop is this Thursday.  Hope to see them there

It's Pep Rally Week!

woohoooo
what did you think about Sugar Rush???

Today I thought I'd share a card using "Surf & Turf".  I called it that because it contains land and sea creatures.

I created a fish bowl with a large circle punch.  The card stock has a wood grain surface which makes it look like water...well, maybe a little bit any ways.  I colored the fish and urchins with Copics.  The bubbles and sentiment are included in the set of course.

Our design team has created such amazing projects using this release...every time I open an e-mail from them, I gasp with delight!  We hope that you will join us this week.
smooches!

Hello friends

Hope your day is going well so far :)

I'll have to make this short and sweet...I have a lot of PS Club orders to mail out today.  Here are the details in case you missed our PS Club option on our site.

ahhh, what a pretty card!  I love the flirty scallop and baker's twine.  Heather's hand cut sentiment adds just the perfect touch of whimsy.

I adore this masculine/feminine looking card.  Laurie created a patterned paper with the flower from FOLKal Points and accented to help them stand out.  (I love that twine bow!)

Have a great day :)

getting close....

to Pep Rally Week...eeeeek!
Winding down June is Kryssi and Heidi today, sharing cards using the "Swanky Snowdudes" stamp set

Heidi's use of product is always wonderful.  I dig the embossed polka dot card stock that reminds me of falling snow and that peppermint looking baker's twine (delish).  I love that sweet red bird.  The North pole can double as a thermometer, but I adore Heidi's use of that image.  her punched mound of snow is per-fect!

Let me start by saying that i love that patterned paper....it resembles snowflakes even though it could be flowers...the color is divine :)  Her added pops of green are unexpected and so delightful.  If you look closely, you will see the vellum layer at the bottom  It adds wonderful interest.

and...we have chosen our winners for the Newsletter challenge.  Did you know that the 6 projects shown on the monthly news flash are never before seen on the Paper Smooches blog?  We like to keep it fresh and entice you to stop by each month to see what we have been up to.  I hope it works :)

soooo - our winners are:

Wendi Morehead
Jamie Greene
MaryAnn Novakowski

Please send me an e-mail at info@papersmoochesstamps.com and let me know which Paper Smooches stamp set you would like.  You can wait until July 1st to see that release and decide to choose one of them if you like :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

It was so much fun seeing your guesses.  Some of you were dead on while others had quite an imagination, which I love.  If you do not subscribe to our newsletter, 3 words were given to describe our three stamp sets for July.  Those words were:

Glub
Hot Dog
Cavities

I would love to tell you more specifics, but what I can tell you is that the themes are:

Glub - FISH (and more)
Hot Dog - there is a WIENER DOG on this set...some people actually guessed this correctly, well done.  I have a dachshund, and adore him, so I had to make a doxie stamp (the actual theme is still a secret though)
Cavities - SWEET treats

When we asked you what stamp sets you would like to see us make - ocean (fish) and sweets kicked the other theme's butts, so we listened and are delivering...coming to you on July 1st.

Thanks for starting your week with us  :)

are you ready to have some fun?

I have some blog candy to give away...woot!

Our News Flash was sent out on Wednesday, June 15th to our newsletter subscribers.  It contained a nugget of information about our July stamp release.

The news flash included a word that "loosely" described each of our 3 July stamp sets.  Based on those words, please take a guess and tell us what theme you think our sets will revolve around for July.

E-mail your name and guesses to: newsletter@papersmoochesstamps.com.

You have until midnight on Sunday, June 19 to guess...I will choose THREE random winners to receive ONE Paper Smooches set of their choice (winner can wait to see the July release and choose one of those stamp sets if they like).  You do not need to guess the exact themes of the 3 stamp sets to win.  Winners names will be announced on Monday, June 20th.

You do not need to place an order to subscribe to our news flash.  You can sign up HERE, on the left side, towards the bottom.  Stamps will be given away on our newsletter from time to time, so we would love for you all to join us ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I decided to offer a challenge here at our humble little blog each month.  I know that webland has a gagillion fabulous challenge blogs out there for us, but why not offer one too, right?  Sooo, on the first Friday of each month, I will post a challenge with an easy to use linky section (just like our guest designer search process).  FIVE stamp sets are the prize to ONE winner each month (that's a $75. value).  This winner will be chosen from the entries each month.  We ask that you create something brand spankin' NEW, using our stamps or free digis...and of course, follow the theme or technique that month.  (If you would like to ink up your stamps from "The Kim Hughes Collection", that I designed for CHF, please feel free)  Sound good?   Hmmm, looks like I will need to think of a clever challenge name.
Today I created some cards using some wonderful Echo Park products from their new Country Drive Collection.  They compliment our stamps beautifully!
The pepper and carrot are stamped, colored with Copics and fussy cut around.  I cut the clouds from the cool patterned paper.  There are black buttons on the tires (that may be hard to see)
I cut the "window" from the punch bug sticker - because ink always smears on the smooth surface.  So, I stamped on card stock and added the sentiment behind the sticker.  I added white buttons and Zva Creative crystals to the head lights.
We are happy that you are here :)
PS July Guest designer is
Jennie Mullens
CONGRATULATIONS. . . You are our July Guest Designer
and this is the card that made our jaw drop!
Oh' my...we have seen some major cleverness from Jennie in the past - but really friends...check this out - she used the pepper image from our Vegtastic stamp set to make balloon clusters.  Ha - how fun is that???  I LOVE her creative mind!
O-M-Geee - I cannot put enough emphasis on this months entries . . .WOW!!!  Every month we are blown away by the talent we have here!
Please, please, please share your talent with us again next month.  Our August guest designer search starts on July 7th.
hey friends
Ashley joins us again today with her adorable snowdude card.  Her color choices always makes me smile (and they remind me of yummy ice cream flavors) Her snowman really pops (I am impressed with her perfect fussy cutting)  cute accents, CUTE card!!
Teri's card makes me go ahhhhhh
So sunny and cheerful, isn't it?
The subtle coloring is so nice.  I love how she added the yellow gingham paper tot he flower centers to balance out the card...and her sentiment treatment really helps the message stand out, great job!!
The official guest designer search countdown has begun.  Get those entries in, k?  It's my favorite time of the month...when I get to oooooh and ahhhhh over your fabulous creations...can't wait!
:)
When I did some research of what would qualify for folk images, I was pleased to see a matryoshka doll pop up numerous times...I love them!
Laurie paper pieced hers with such rich colors.  I think her hand drawn stitches are so cool!  And oh my, that bow...and her design...well, I think it's safe to say that I love every inch of this darling card :)
Ohhhh, and check out how Heather created this bright and cheerful card with a wonderful paper pattern that really makes the doll POP!  Her card is so playful and feminine (swooooon)  Did you notice the fabulous glitter?
You have 2 more days to try out for our Guest Designer spot in July...deets are HERE
I feel so relaxed and refreshed from our vacation.  With a clearer mind, I decided to feature 5 projects every month on our PS Patrol day instead of 2.  There is waaaaay too many amazing projects out there - it's SO HARD to narrow it down!  So, on the 2nd Thursday of each month, be prepared to be extra-inspired.
I had plans to add video tutorials to our blog all along, but it's definitely time to make it happen.  So, just a heads up that I will be adding them on Fridays when I can.  Not every Friday necessarily, but that will be the day of the week to look for them.  I am a little camera shy, but I think I can get over that uneasiness.  (grin)
thank you so so so much for joining us today
it's just fun to say...
SWANKY!
These amazing gals used the same exact image and sentiment and achieved 2 totally different "cool" looks!
What a delicious shade of green!  I love it with that blue...it works sooo great with a snowy card!  sweet - simple - and downright great!
 Here's another "snow globe type" of card.  What a fabulous shape!!  Kryssi's card is so soft, but bold at the same time...BAM!
We all know that blue goes with just about every color...whether you play with these nice combos (blue and peach or blue and leaf green), or choose your own, you can't go wrong.
I missed you!  It's greta to be back in sunny AZ!
hugs,
Kim
TGIF
 . . . am I right?
I created this card for the Got Sketch? Blog.  Valerie always has such amazing sketches!
I used Perky Plants for my focal images and the sentiment is from Sentiment Sampler.  Zva Creative pearls top off this card.  I used a postage stamp punch to mat my white stamped blocks.  It gave them just the boost they needed.
I hope your weekend is wonderful :)
Don't forget to show us what you've got - try out for our Guest Designer search, ok?
loves,
Kim
The June PS Patrol
spotted some reallllly amazing cards!!
Hello friends!
On the second Thursday of every month 2 projects will be posted by 2 talented designers that are found on the web.  The patrol is sent out to find super-fabulous projects using our stamps, digis and templates!  Facebook, our Fan Flickr page and personal blogs are our favorite places to look.
Jennie Mullens
This is clever with a capitol C!
This talented gal combined stamps from Hang Ups and Falling For You.  I think she describes her creative process best: "The peanut feeder on the first card is made from a few different elements in the set. I used the coat hanger , rectangle , part of the wooden stick and the berries from the mistletoe and then added some mesh faintly over the top."
PURE genius!!
Judith Gowdy
is up next :)
Let's continue on with the C-word . . . clever of course
it's a bee that was used as a FISH...ack how CUTE!!
When I showed my friend my digi bee, she saw that it could be a whale, but it hadn't occurred to me yet.  I was thrilled to see that someone else out there thought "outside the box" like my friend did and saw a fish, hehe.  As if the fish isn't cute enough, Judith went and designed a piece of delicious paper eye candy for us to enjoy
.
Judith - WOW!!
Thanks for poppin' in friends!
Ashley Marcu is back with another one of her adorable creations. What a fantastic design. (with perfect balance) I LOVE it!!  And those apples make me smile all over.  This is a perfect card for a teacher!
Tomorriw is PS Patrol day...woohooo.  Please check back to see who has caught our eye.
FYI...we are going to increase the number of featured cards from 2 to FIVE, starting next month.  There is simply soooo many fabulous creations out there using Paper Smooches stamps that it's nearly impossible to narrow the filed down.  We are amazed by the talent out there.
We think YOU ROCK!!
Word Up
Do any of y'all remember that from the 80's?  Was it a sing or a slang phrase, I can't remember?  Either way, its a blast from the past and it seems to work just fine for this "wordy" stamp set
Heather did a great job heat embossing her sentiment.  It's subtle and perfect!  Can you believe how perfect her bows are, every time???
ahhh, so soft and pretty, those are perfect descriptions for so many of Laurie's cards.  I can see this as a sweet baby or everyday card.  I know it would make my day if I received it in the mail.
Happy Birthday to one of our 5 wickedly talented designers - Kryssi Ng - We adore you!!
hey Folks!
Heidi's card screams folky with a modern twist.  Those stitches and that folk flower border are super CUTE touches!  I love that she stamped on a button, ummm...wow!
ok, sweetness alert!  I am in amazement of Kryssi's clean style.  It really makes the images POP!  What a fabulous shaped card!!!!  GREAT job using so many images on one card :)
As we speak, I am headed on vacation with my family until the 12th of June.  All of my blog posts are prepped and ready to go while I am gone.  I will have access to e-mail if anyone needs me.  My wonderful Mother In Law is filling in  for me while I am away.  My Dad will be here dog-sitting and tieing the bows for each order.  You are in great hands :)
thanks for stopping by
Friday, June 3, 2011
Hello friends
It's Friday!!
I have a "random" card to share with you today.
I used a rub-on from the new set that I created for EAD Designs called Random Sayings.  I think they are just plain silly - FUN!!
The lightening bug is from Giddy Bugs stamp set.  The alphabet letters "bah" are by Lily Bee Design (love their size) The crystal/pearl flourish is by Zva Creative (great color).  I made the Santa hat by cutting a triangle from double sided red Bo Bunny paper and folding down the pointiest edge (easy peasy)  This little guys butt is glowing with glitter, had to say it :)
Hoping that you will have a super wonderful weekend friends :)
Guest Designer search starts . . .
TODAY, YAY!!
Our FREE digis are available today too..woohoooo.  Here is a sample of our June digis.  The folk star coordinates with the open star from our FOLKal Points stamp set.  You may recognize the sentiment from my past stamp set called "Making The Grade".  I cleaned it up a bit, so it's not exactly like the older one (but better).  The stars are arranged in a cluster for added fun!
Here is more about our guest designer search details:
Since today is the first Thursday of each month, we are officially searching for our June guest designer! Guest Designers will receive 2 NEW stamp sets and 2 shaped card templates and will have their name and projects featured here on the PS blog for 4-5 weeks.
You will have approx. 2 weeks to show us your talent!  You can submit as many projects as you like.  You can also submit previously submitted projects.  Guest designers are not chosen randomly.  We will be looking for designers who stand out in one (or more) of the following categories:
fun paper piecing
You will need to use a Paper Smooches stamp or any of our FREE digi stamps.  A new digi image and sentiment were added to the PS web site last night.  You can find them HERE.  Past free digi images and sentiments were moved to this blog, on the left side column.
The deadline is Wednesday, June 15th at midnight Pacific time.  Our July guest designer will be announced on Thursday, June 16th.  Good luck, we can't wait to see your beautiful work!
The very cute Ashley Marcu joins us as our guest this month and today is the first day that I can show off her work, YAY!
