2.23

Hi friends.
We have new customers every day, so I thought I'd share my story in case you'd like to know a little more about how Paper Smooches runs behind the scenes.

I work from my home in Arizona.  I wake up around 7am and turn on my computer and start working right away (usually while drinking coffee).  I write a blog post, answer some e-mails and start filing orders.  Every order is filled by me.  I answer all phone calls and e-mails...and I create all of the art. Somewhere in between I do laundry, feed my family and do normal "Mom" stuff.

I have 2 kids...my son is 18 and he attends ASU and my daughter is 16 and is at home with me.  She helps me with the dies. The dies do not arrive with a header card and plastic hanging bag like the stamps do.  This is a great job for her since she can sit in front of the TV and work while watching.  My Dad comes over about once a week to put the header card in the plastic bag.  He watches his shows and I always treat him to pizza.  (He is 77)  I imagine it's not a bad gig to get paid while watching TV and eating goodies. :)

I don't drive because I don't see very well...but the mail person comes at around 4:00 every day to pick up my mail.  So your mail is scanned by the USPS and begins it's journey the next morning.

You may have noticed with our February release that I created 5 dies and 1 stamp set, instead of the typical 10 dies and 2 stamp sets.  I have worked so incredibly hard for the past 5 years, so I thought it was a good idea to allow myself to exhale a bit.  I truly enjoy this business every single day and I don't want to burn myself out.  So releasing less products should help me to keep up :)

I have an amazing design team.  They really are so sweet and talented and I am fortunate to call them my friends.  These talented girls make my designs shine and they make me smile every day.  I know that I couldn't do this without them.  Past and present designers are soooo incredibly precious to me!

I have wonderful friends in the industry who cheer us on and boy do I appreciate that.

Our customers and fans are simply the best.  I receive so many lovely messages and cards that let us know that they love Paper Smooches.  I am humbled and I love you too.

Thank you a zillion times for all of your love and support over the past FIVE years.  I am on the verge of tears because I know how truly lucky and blessed I am.  Forget about the "verge of tears"...they fell.  My most sincere THANK YOU.  <3  Kim

  20. How fun to get to know about you and your company a bit more! It's so sweet that your dad comes over to help, and your daughter is lucky to have that job—my son would love a job he could be paid for while watching TV :)

I really like your stamps and sure do enjoy using the ones I have. I especially like the funny and punny ones. The other day I sent a candy bar to school with my son for his chemistry teacher, and I colored and die cut your scientist to go on it. It turned out so fun, and my son said his teacher got a kick out of it! Thanks for sharing your creativity

It is so easy to find a product, then see what creative people have done with it, it is inspiring. Love how the family all chips in to help, it must give everyone a great feeling of satisfaction.

  40. Hi Kim. I am 'relatively' new to Paper Smooches. I have been following you for a while now but really didn't know all of this. Thanks for sharing as it's nice to know "who" is behind a company. I have always been a SAHM so I have a very small crafting budget but I enjoy seeing what is new and what is being done with it. Your new release is amazing (big or small) but always take time out for YOU as it is important! Take care and TFS!

It gives me pleasure to tell them about your company, and I had no idea you did it all yourself, the quality of the products and in particular the price and fast service. My first ever stamp was a PS set- Spiffy Scooters - and I was so new to the world that I actually CUT the acetate, not realizing how to get the stamp off! Duh! I have had the please of speaking to you once regarding an order--I was so amazed that you were the one calling that I was a little tongue-tied and in awe. (Such amazing customer service!) I would have told you then how awesome you are. Thank you for continuing to create new and fun things and sharing them with us. BTW, you don't look old enough to have kids in HS, let alone college. They are wonderful designs but they also lend themselves to be dressed down or dressed up...thereby allowing the stamper to get more out of our special purchases. On a side note, I did call your company once because I couldn't get an order to go through and YOU did answer the phone and YOU did follow through wonderfully. 81. Kim I am very behind in reading my posts so I just wanted to say. Its always wonderful when people remember to share that they are a small business so others can be more patient and understanding. Have enjoyed using your products for a couple of years now and have never felt anything but admiration for you. Your a wonderful person, just remember to take time for you cause it will all be for nought if you burn yourself out. Family comes first as does health, your an inspiration Kim. Take care

  82. Hi, Kim!
Just a word of suggestion.....why not just leave the dies as it is? No need to have the hanging plastic and header. Cause I believe many of us will re-pack into our own system of storing. Secondly, it save up both your cost and energy/efforts! If you ask me, I am fine if you ship me the dies without the packaging as long as you declared it in your website.
    Thanks!
