Paper Crafts magazine Presents: Card Creations: Get Inspired Blog Hop

I am so excited to be a part of this super fun blog hop today!

The editors found all sorts of wonderful inspiration pieces and we created cards based on them.  I had a blast creating for that call!!  I like dabbling in all styles, so inspiration pieces really help me to branch out.  I love how easy the book is to follow...and it's filled with inspiring cards!
























I was asked to find inspiration in my home and to create a project with it. I just love this bird accent piece...it just makes me happy.  It sits on a cabinet in my craft space.  Yes, the entire room is sunny yellow - I love it!!

Sooo, here's my inspiration:



















and here's my card:





















I was inspired in SO MANY ways:
1. The fun color combo
2. I added texture to the yellow paper to coincide with the texture in the wall.  (I used an impression plate)
3. I love that bird!  So I found a bird image in our "Wake Up" stamp set that matches it beautifully.
4. I chose a light colored brown for my card base because of the bin and cabinet colors.
5. I kept the style "fun and cute", just like the inspiration piece.
6. Since the bird's eye is a darker shade of blue, I added that shade to the buttons with Sky twine.
7. I chose to color my stamped image with Copic markers instead of paper piecing it.

    1 - i LOVE the room! i would be UNBELIEVABLY inspired and happy if i got to craft in a space like that all the time! FAB choices!
    2 - the bird!! OH MY GOOMIE, he is just the cutest little thing and makes me grin!
    3 - your card TOTALLY mimics the whole feel of the room and the bird, and it just OOZES happy! i love it.

    Yellow walls Kim?! Simply brilliant!!! I love that hue, it's so bright and cheery-my fave color is orange, so my craft room has splashes of it inspiring me all the time...but this yellow is gorgeous ^_~ I may have to pay my home improvement center a visit and see about adding this shade to a wall or two in my studio too!
