May 2019 FLOWERS Challenge Winners

Hello friends:)

It's Savannah O'Gwynn sharing and celebrating our May FLOWERS Challenge winners winners!

Thank you to all of you who have shared your talent and creations with us this past month! The gallery was extra pretty for May because of all the beautiful flowers used on each creation!!! Fabulous job, everyone 💐 We literally had so many projects that stood out- like making a flower from LEAVES, TROPICAL flowers, FLOWER paper and PS stamps are always a good combo, and stamping a BOUQUET of flowers on alcohol inked paper. *Click the links to check them out! GOODNESS- it was super hard to pick only 3 winners!

Congratulations to our winners... *drumroll* 🥁
SentSue  I love that she used flower papers! That was allowed:)
Experiments in Crafts  Cross-stamp-stitching (also cross-stitching) is one of my fav things! Totally caught my eye:)
Violet Rose  Um... the name matches our challenge! LOL! That's not why I picked this card- it's because of that watercoloring! FAB colors and design! AMAZING:)

Please email {savannahland2 at comcast dot net} to receive your badge and $15 gift certificate to the Paper Smooches store!

THANKS soooooooooooo much to all who joined in the fun- checking out the gallery is one of my favorite things to do each month! We appreciate you sharing your talent and creations with us ❤️

Tomorrow, June 1st, we start our next challenge- PHOTO INSPIRATION! We haven't done one of these challenges in awhile; it's about time! We will use a photo as our inspiration- use the colors, images, design, etc. as your starting point. MORE details will be shared tomorrow.

Thanks so much for stopping by! MORE to come soon! Be blessed:)
Tons of love, Sav

In Australia when it gets very hot, the nectar in some flowers ferments and turns into alcohol. The bees get “drunk” and are not allowed back into the hive.

somethign totally FUN!

Welcome to the 3rd Save the Crafty YouTuber Video Hop! It's Emily Leiphart here and I'm so honoured to be participating in this event, organized by the fabulous Justine Hovey, and you can find all the details on her blog HERE.

I'm featuring many Paper Smooches stamps and dies in my video and I'm sharing a shop coupon, which appears twice in my video, so be sure to watch carefully and have a pen ready to write that down that coupon code for a wonderful discount!

I made four cards with the Splash stamp set and Splash Icons, and I managed every image in the set except the whale's tail. It could also be used as a mermaid's tail, if you wanted to get creative. ;)

The other die set featured across all four cards is the Water Dies, which is an absolute must-have  since it can be used as water, grass, sand and even party streamers! On my first card, featuring the beaver, I used it to cut windows for a shaker element.

I use the ink blended Water Dies cut from the beaver card on the shark card, as additional waves. I love the layered look of the coordinating die cuts, which adds even more depth to the water.

The top edge of both the beaver and shark water panels were cut with one of the Waves Dies. This has been one of my go-to sets for years. The sentiment on the shark card is from the Super stamp set.

The next technique I used on the duck card was to dry emboss with the Water Dies. This worked out perfectly since I ink blended a single panel with a sky-to-sea transition.

The glittery white Curly Clouds were a perfect balance to the dry embossed waves. The sentiment on this card is from the Group Hugs stamp set, another one of my well-loved sentiment sets.

On my otter card, I added several glittery white die cuts to the panel. I also used one of the dies to create a slit in the panel so I could tuck the 'beaver's paws' behind the wave. It's holding a clam shell from the Summer Lovin stamp set.

As always, all of the detailed instructions are on the video, and all of the supplies I used on these cards are in the supply links below. Don't forget to use the Paper Smooches shop coupon that appears in my video. The coupon code is valid for the duration of this video hop.

There are so many prizes to be won. Some video artists are giving away a specific prize but our sponsors are giving away prizes to anyone who comments. The more love you leave, the higher your chances of winning!

Thanks so much for hopping with us!

In 1948, a man wore 30-pound, 3-toed lead shoes and stomped around a Florida beach in the night. The footprints lead people to believe that a 15-foot tall penguin was roaming their lands. He kept up the prank for 10 years, visiting various beaches. The hoax wasn’t revealed until 40 years later.

Hello friends
I am going to double up my blog posts this week...I didn't want to distract from the cute bee post :)

It’s common for dentists to have aquariums because they reduce stress and anxiety. Aquarium Therapy has been shown to reduce stress, insomnia, and high blood pressure; achieving results that are the same, or better than, hypnosis.

I colored the flower center with a metallic gold pen and then colored on top with a Copic marker. The gold pen resisted the Copic marker. The effect was unexpected but super cool.

Researches at Harvard and Columbia concluded that sarcasm promotes creative thinking because both the expressers and recipients of sarcasm need to overcome the contradiction between the literal and actual meanings of the sarcastic expressions.
