August 2019 SCHOOL + WORDS challenge

Hello, friends!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are starting our August 2019 challenge today. I had TWO ideas for a challenge this month:
  1. School theme
  2. Words- using sentiments on your project (as many as you want or as few as you want)
Since I couldn't pick which one I wanted to use... you get to decide!
School theme- I always think of getting new pens and papers and meeting the teachers! This photo could be your inspiration too! Create any project with a school theme for this challenge!
Words theme- use any sentiment on your project! This actually is an easy theme:)
Or use BOTH themes on your project:)

Challenge deadline: August 28th, 2018 at 11:59pm PST
Winners will be posted on August 28-31.
Next challenge begins September 1st {HINT: It's going to be a sketch!}.

Here are the rules:
  1. Create a NEW project (card, tag, layout, journaling page, etc).
  2. You must use at least one Paper Smooches stamps/dies or free digital images- please link to our website:
  3. Post your project on your blog/social media platform and submit a direct link to your post/image using our linking system.
  4. Please display our banner on your blog post (right click on the banner and save to your computer. If you have any trouble, I am happy to email the image to you, savannahland2 at comcast dot net)

Women named Virginia are disproportionately likely to move to Virginia in their adulthood. The same logic applies to women named Georgia and to those whose surnames begin with “Cal” (California) and “Tex” (Texas).

One evening, while rushing for dinner after a long day at the lab, Constantin Fahlberg, a chemist at Johns Hopkins, forgot to wash his hands that had traces of benzoic sulfimide. This compound made his dinner taste sweet, and that’s how he discovered the artificial sweetener Saccharin.

During the time of the Great Depression, a banker convinced struggling families in Quincy, Florida to buy Coca-Cola shares which traded at $19. Later, the town became the single richest town per capita in the US with at least 67 millionaires.

Gwen Stefani’s brother Eric was originally the keyboardist for No Doubt but left to become an animator for The Simpsons. He was able to put No Doubt into the background of the Lollapalloza episode when they were still pretty much an unknown band.

In 2015, researchers testing the efficiency of mosquito repellents used a Victoria’s Secret perfume because they thought the floral fragrance would attract mosquitoes. To their surprise, they found it repels mosquitoes better than a range of mosquito deterrents.

The last Blockbuster on earth, in Bend, OR uses floppy disks to boot their system, employees have to hand print cards because their printers broke, and transactions are backed up on a reel-to-reel tape that can’t be replaced because Radio Shack went out of business.

7.21 Sunday Recap

Hello, sweet friends!

Savannah O'Gwynn here to share a quick recap of this week's PS posts--- we have some extra fun things happening here!

Our new July ANYTHING GOES challenge has started- this is a PS fan favorite, as well as mine:) You can make anything you want for our challenge but be sure to use at least one PS stamp or die on your project. Details for this challenge can be found HERE.
Update on my mom's cards: Unfortunately, she will be using some of her sympathy cards sooner than we wanted. And I will have to make more to use too. My Uncle Kenny passed away a few days ago. I'll see if I can get a close up of her card when I'm visiting family up north.

I created another card for our challenge this week! This card is for a new baby, our friends are expecting baby boy #2 (he is due on my birthday!!!!). Trav and I saw this crocheted kangaroo, which is over 3 feet tall and stands up on it's own, at a store last week, and I knew I had to get it and create a matching baby card for their shower (or "sprinkle"- who knew this was such a thing!?!?!) this past weekend.
Trav helped me create this card- design elements and colors! PS stamps/dies we used include: Patternology, A Little LovinCozy Coffee dieLove Word 2 die
I hope you will join in the fun with our challenge! You could win a $15 PS gift certificate! Click HERE for more details or link up below.

We have another fun challenge for you to join!!! Paper Smooches is sponsoring the Word Art Challenge. Click HERE to join in the fun and enter to win a $25 gift code to PS! **NOTE: If you create a new card during their challenge using PS goodies, link it up to both challenges:) BONUS!

Kim has shared a fun card that she made for a magazine feature! You should check out the details HERE and then grab the magazine to see the rest of her beautiful designs!!!

That's it for me today. Be sure to stop back by for MORE inspiration, giveaways, and fun throughout the week!

Be blessed ❤️ Sav

People in Japan are renting cars, but not to drive them anywhere. Car rental companies looked into it and discovered that people were using them to take naps, eat lunch, do work, change clothes, recharge cell phones, and store things (when storage lockers at train stations weren’t available).
